Your management committee met on Thursday for the last time before the summer break.
Many projects are underway and will continue to be worked on during the summer. Amongst the items progressing is a sub-committee looking at the choice of food for our annual dinner and presentation on Saturday 25 October. The proposed selections sound delicious.
We are also looking at styles of plaques that could be used to hang on our memory tree. More details will follow once we have a style that suits.
We have 23 members now signed up for the 2026 Portugal and plans are well underway.
We have our last public open day on Sunday 20 July from 10 until 4. If you are available at any time during these hours to welcome potential new members please let me know. This year has been successful in attracting new members but we are always looking to increase our membership.
The management committee discussed the need for more qualified bowls coaches. We currently have 4 BDA coaches but would like another two. If this is something you would like to undertake please speak to Angela C, Glyn, Heather or myself. The Club will look to make a contribution towards the cost of this training which is around £150.
We are hosting a men's county game (Gloucestershire v Somerset) on Monday 21 July. This is an opportunity to showcase our Club and Vic and Brian are looking for help in cleaning and tidying the ditch mats. This is a big job and cannot be undertaken by just Brian and Vic. If you can spare a couple of hours on Friday 18 or Saturday 19 from 8.30 am to help please let Vic know or just turn up on the day.
Keep putting the sun screen on and enjoy your bowls.
Best wishes, Keith
