News from the Chair Jan 2026

With the end of year festivities behind us we can look forward to whatever 2026 has in store for us.

Your Management Committee met for the first time this year and there are some topics to share with you.

The kitchen refit has commenced and Vic, Brian C and Rob O have been very busy pulling out the old units and preparing the walls and flooring for all the new fixtures.  Well done chaps.

It won't be long now until the 6 Nations Rugby series starts.  There is some interest in members coming together at the club to watch the matches together and to this end there will be notifications nearer to the games as to when we will open the club, and bar, to watch the games.  Chris will be offering food for those that want something to eat during the match.  The first game we will open for is England v Wales on Saturday 7 February.  Timings to be confirmed.

Our Secretary will be writing to those members who have yet to renew their membership, which should be paid before this month end, but I'm just giving you a gentle nudge so you don't forget!

Angela will also be writing to the membership to promote Easyfundraising which is a way of raising funds for the club at no cost to you.  Please take the time to consider taking up what is an easy way of assisting the club.

There are a number of jobs to be carried out before our big pre season spring clean.  If you feel you can take on one of these jobs please let Vic or I know.

1. The inside of the balcony wall needs to be painted

2. The outside of the balcony wall and adjoining walls need painting

3. The facia boards of the kitchen and toilets need covering with upvc which the club already has

4. In both the Ladies and Gents changing rooms the wall area between the top of the benches and the coat hook rail needs touching up due to marks from bowls bags

5. The corridor from the main clubroom to the changing rooms needs repainting 

6. Touch up walls in the main clubroom

You may have seen some recent notices regarding parking at the rec.  As far as we can judge the notices refer to the paid for parking spaces on your immediate left and right side as you enter the parking areas.  Do not park in these spaces but continue past the Dolphins Hall and use the area behind the Hall nearest to our club.

Only 93 days until the Opening Gala on Sunday 12 April, a day I am sure we are all looking forward to.
