News from the Chair Feb 2026

As we fast approach the start of the playing season there are a few items to make you aware of.

The club was formed in 1908 and moved to our current location in 1956 so we are celebrating 70 years this year at the recreation ground. A celebration of this milestone will be announced in the near future.

The access code to open the key box for the key to open the clubhouse will be changed with effect from Monday 16 February. All other access codes remain the same.

The Competition's Committee has asked me to let you know that the entry forms for 2026 Club competitions will be available from 1 March from behind the bar. If you want to enter any club competitions please fill in one of the forms and pay either at the bar, cash or card, or by BACS to the club account. A closing date for entries will be announced in the near future.

Last year we had the memory tree painted on the outside changing room wall and we are now in a position to take details from members who would like to sponsor a leaf in memory of a past member. The cost per leaf will be £17 and this includes the cost of the leaf, individual painting of each leaf and the inscription. If you wish to order a leaf in memory of a member no longer with us please let me have the following detail.

  • The name of the person. This may include a nickname.

  • The date or year of birth and the date or year of death

Please email me at tetburybowls@gmail.com with the above details along with how you have paid. This can be done at the bar with cash or card or by BACS to the club account.

Some of you may be aware that we run a short mat club at St. Mary's School for the pupils. On Thursday 26 March we will be running a session using the short mat at the clubhouse for our returning Juniors at 6 pm and then the following night, Friday 27 March at 7pm we will be letting any interested member have a "go" at short mat bowling.

We are looking to offer more events at the club and to this end we have been given a brand new dartboard and mat to add to the pool table. We are hoping to have a pub-like night where we can play traditional pub games. If anyone has any traditional pub games they can offer please let me know.

At the time of writing it is 59 days to the opening gala by which time the green should have dried out a little!

Best wishes, Keith
