News from the Chair Feb 2025

As we get closer to the start of the new season your Management Committee met for the second time in 2025.

There was as usual much to discuss with many dates for various events being penciled in for the start of the playing season. Last month I mentioned we would be running two fund raising events with dates to follow. I can now inform you that the Race Night will be run on Saturday 31 May with the first race at 7 pm. More details will follow and I will be looking for members to sponsor the horses and races for what is a fun night. Please contact me directly if you would like to sponsor a horse at £5 or a race at £10.

I also informed you that we would be holding an auction of pledges and Rob Hatto, Rob Oakley and Rich T have been working hard to attract items and pledges for the auction. They have already had commitment from local businesses for some very exciting pledges. The date for the auction has been set for Friday 15 August and details of items to be auctioned off will be circulated nearer the time.

We are making good progress regarding the photograph displays and albums but we would like to know if anyone has photographs they would like to share with us. If you do please let Angela Cary know.

You may recall that Malmesbury Bowls and Social Club suffered from flooding towards the end of last year. Your Club offered support and help to this neighbouring Club and we have received a very nice letter from the Malmesbury Committee thanking us for our positive response. Rob Hatto led the way by providing physical help in clearing up the flood damage and for which they were most appreciative.

Gloucester City Bowls Club are running an open 3 wood pairs tournament on Sunday 15 June. More details can be found on the Club noticeboard.

Heather has written to you all regarding the Club spring clean. Please support in any way you can in preparing the Club for the forthcoming season.
