Whilst the outdoor bowling season has ended there is a great deal still going on at your Club. We had the benefit of one of the Directors from Specsavers, Jake, who visited the Club and presented the new Club shirts to those attending. It was pleasing to have over 40 members receive their shirt(s) directly from Jake.
Our dinner presentation evening went down well and 36 members attended to congratulate the winners and runners up of our various competitions. Thanks to everyone involved in the organising of this annual event.
At the Club's AGM there was a vote in favour of amending a part of the Club's Constitution. It was agreed that the payment of Club Membership, both playing and social members, would need to be paid no later than 31 January each year. The actual due date is 1 January, as per the Constitution, but an extension is offered to 31 January for those that need a little longer to pay. This date is needed so that we can meet Bowls England's requirement for payment of affiliation fees. Please note that the cost of a social member remains at £25 but the playing member's fee has risen by £2 to £127.
In preparation for those wishing to enter County competitions the Mens and Ladies Captains will be organising separate evening meetings to assist with applications.
Vincent and Brian Westcott attended the SCBL annual meeting at which they received the League 4 winners trophy along with a cheque for £150. The trophy is on display at the Club. Well done to all those involved. It was confirmed at this meeting that the Division 4 team would be promoted to Division 3 and the Division 1 team would be playing in Division 2 next year.
Dawn has agreed to represent the Club by displaying a Christmas Tree in St. Saviour's Church. Please look out for dates when the Church will be open and all the trees will be on display.
Following the AGM and voting of new Management Committee positions we still have a vacancy for a Communications Officer. Details of the role can be found on the Club website. If you feel you could fill this role please let me know.
As we charge towards Christmas Chris Bridgeman is making plans for a Christmas dinner to be held on the evening of Friday 20 December. More details will follow. Before that date please can I encourage you to support the Club during the winter be that attending Bingo, a Quiz, Pool, Coffee Morning or the Christmas Dinner. These events keep the Club running and allow members to keep in touch.
Finally, how many of you heard mention of the Bowls Club on the BBC show "Escape To The Country" today - 13 November?
Hope to see you soon
