News from the Chair August 2024

A few items to let you know about this month. The total donated by Rich Thamas towards our kitchen refurbishment following his scalping was £800. A great effort by all involved. In addition to this sum Rich was able to make a generous donation to a local charity.

Our leagues are now finished and a big thank you to both Ladies and Gents who played for the Club with a special mention to our men's team in winning the fourth division title.

I hope to receive in the next couple of days more of the new Club shirts for members to try on to check the fit. I will send a separate email once I have taken delivery of the shirts and arrangements for trying for size.

We are hosting a Gloucestershire Mens County game against Oxfordshire on Thursday 28 August. Another honour for the Club to be asked to host this event. The Club is expected to run a raffle for the men playing in this match and donations of appropriate raffle prizes would be appreciated. Please leave such donations behind the bar.

Our Junior Bowlers will be playing for the Junior Shield on Friday 13 September at 6pm. Please come and support them if you can.

Our closing Gala will be held on Sunday 22 September and I hope we have as good a turnout as last year when we had 40 members taking part.

As we get nearer to the end of the season, we need to think about next year and the AGM (due to be held on Monday 28 October) will be soon upon us. Details of how to become a member of the Management Committee will be posted on the notice boards outside the changing rooms in the coming weeks. If you are thinking about volunteering for any position, please put your name down. Details of role descriptions can be found on the Club website.

Finally good luck to all playing members still involved in any Club competitions. Dates of matches can be found on the Club website and the What's On board at the Club.
