News from the Chair 6

The Management Committee met for the 6th time this year on 1 June and had a range of topics to discuss.

We were able to review how well we did on our two Open Days. So far, we have attracted 7 new novice members and coaching has, at the time of writing, been completed for them and you will therefore see some new faces around the club. Our Junior Section also has a new member so we still make progress in building this new section.

Last weekend saw the club hold its second annual Corporate Day which proved to be a great success not just from the financial side but getting our sport and club known to a wider audience. Eleven teams took part with the majority of the 44 members of the public playing their first ever game of bowls. I must say a big thank you to all the members of our club who assisted on the green offering basic tuition and to those who served a delicious cream tea during the afternoon. We hope to make this an annual event and have some teams already signed up!

Two items I would like to point out to you all that requires your support. A tea rota is being compiled and the club needs volunteers to support the provision, at the club's cost, of tea and biscuits at friendly matches. Please offer your help if you can.

Also the recent email from the club's Competition Committee for playing members to comply with the competition rules. Please make sure you meet the dates for matches to be played and the times you can play.

Finally a mention to our three green keepers who have kept the green in good order during this strange weather and in readiness for this Monday's triple semi-final that we are hosting.
