News from the Chair 4

Your committee had their last meeting before the season gets underway and once again we covered a great many items

Firstly we would like to thank all who turned out to spring clean the club. Well done. That now leaves some work on the outside. The planters outside the main gate have been adopted by Rob Hatto and he will be looking to plant them ready for the season. Dawn Crewe is looking to plant the large grey planters and Pat Vick the smaller concrete planters. Rich Thomas is providing the compost for the new terracotta pots, 10 in total, so if you have bedding plants spare please let Rich know.

The numbers for the proposed 2024 Portugal trip have grown to a level where we should be able to make the minimum numbers. If you have not shown an interest but think you might like to join the group please let me know.

The entry code for access to the keypad accessing the clubroom key, and the padlock to the green equipment shed, will be changed from today, Sunday 9 April. The new code will be circulated to all paid up members by Angela Cary when she returns from Cornwall this week. All other access codes remain the same. If you need access to the Clubroom before Angela sends out the new code please let me know.

We have our first open day on Saturday 29 April and I need volunteers to help us attract new members. lf you can spare an hour or two between 11 am and 3 pm on this day please let me know. The same applies to Monday 1 May when we will be running what was a very successful trio of games for visitors to the Wacky Races. Again if you can help please let me know.

On Saturday 3 June the Club will be hosting a Corporate Day for non bowlers. Teams of 4 from local clubs, organisations and businesses will be shown the basics of bowls and then play in a number of games. The event starts at 1.30 and finishes around 5 with a break for an afternoon cream tea. I have 4 teams already entered but we would like at least 8 teams so if you know of any group that would like to take part please let me know.

There will be a "Celebration Of Tetbury" this year on 30 July. It is being organised to promote health and wellbeing in Tetbury. Heather and I are away on this day and the club has a 51 Up competition taking place. If you feel you could man a stall promoting the club and are not playing in the 51 Up please let me know. I feel it is important for us to have some form of representation at such an event.

Junior bowls starts on Sunday 30 April and we are hoping to increase the numbers of Juniors we have playing both on Sundays and friendlies.

Finally I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at our Opening Gala next week and hope you can help at one or more of the above events.
