News from the Chair 12

Since I last wrote to you the Management Committee met and discussed numerous items. The matter of not having nominations for the positions of Club Captain and Men's Captain is being considered and at the next meeting decisions will be made by your committee as to how we propose to manage this situation.

Progress has been made regarding the club below waist uniform and we should be in a position to announce how we are going to proceed very soon. This will allow time for the members to purchase the new uniform before April next year.

The Wednesday night pool session has started and 12 different members have taken part in either resurrecting past skills or learning new ones. Over the next couple of weeks we will be looking to start a more formal playing of games. This could be on a league or knock out basis and I will write to you again once we have a format that suits the players.

Chalkie and I attended the South Cotswold Bowls League AGM at which the club were presented with the trophy for winning league 2 along with a winning team cheque for £240. Chalkie has also made the necessary contact for playing in the Sunday morning league next year.

Still vivid in a lot of member's memories will be the dinner presentation last Saturday. The management committee will discuss feedback at the December meeting so we can plan for next year's event but in general the feedback I have received is very positive and all involved enjoyed themselves.

Our next big event will be a Christmas Party to be held on the evening of Friday 22 December. Chris Bridgeman is putting plans in place and will be in touch with more information soon.

Winter working parties continue at a pace with half of the balcony wall demolished and are ready to start rebuilding. Also the flower beds along the recreation sidewall have been cleared and the newly created area is ready to receive chippings, seating and planters.
