Members make our club great

Our club is very much member-led with many volunteering their time, energy and wealth of expertise and experience to handle the multiple tasks needed to keep things operating.

Like many community groups, a lot of hard work goes on tirelessly behind the scenes. The greenkeeping team do their utmost to ensure we have a wonderful green to play on. Our coaches train to help introduce the game to new members and develop skills. Captains liaise with their league counterparts guiding the teams throughout the season. The social secretary and her team schedule a variety of social events with well-prepared food. The bar manager aims to please all with a well-stocked bar, and so many more roles (can you find them in the in the word search?).

So, a heartfelt thank you to all who volunteered to serve and are up for election as new club officers at our annual general meeting on the 31st of October. Their first meeting will be in November to recap the year and discuss the club’s plans for 2023.

Our next big event will be on the 12th of November, which is our annual dinner and prizegiving at Minchinhampton Golf Club (new). After a delicious three-course meal, our competition winners and runners up will be presented with their prizes and trophies by our President.

Also coming up over the winter is our series of regular social events, which are a great way for us to keep in touch during the off season. Members and their guests share a meal and play a few rounds of bingo or compete in quizzes. And there are plans for fancy dress events, themed nights, a ‘race night’ and more.
